Praised for her versatility and expressive storytelling, mezzo-soprano Emma Ginzel is an accomplished performer based in Southern California.

Emma has built a dynamic career in opera and concert performance, with notable roles including Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, The Gingerbread Witch in Hansel und Gretel, and Mrs. Jones in Street Scene.

Emma's education and training include programs such as Angels Vocal Art, the International Performing Arts Institute, and the Vienna Summer Music Festival, where she was privileged to study as a studio artist. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine, where she specialized in the works of female composers and underrepresented languages under the mentorship of Dr. Darryl Taylor. Emma also holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Point Loma Nazarene University, where she studied with Amy Mein.

A passionate concert artist, Emma has been honored to perform as a soloist with the Point Loma Choral Union in renowned productions of The Messiah and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. She has also performed as a soloist with the Point Loma Nazarene University Orchestra in their Concerto Concerts in 2019 and 2020.

In addition to her opera and solo performances, Emma actively participates in the Southern California choral community, singing with ensembles such as the Verdi Chorus, Long Beach Camerata Singers, the NEO Voice Festival, and Pacific Chorale.

A sought-after performer and collaborator, Emma is involved in local opera initiatives, including Pacific Lyric Association, Opera Ala Carte, Pacific Opera Project Education Program and the Opera Wednesday concert series. Her broad repertoire, deep musicality, and commitment to elevating underrepresented voices in classical music make her an exciting and in-demand artist in the Southern California classical music scene.
